The accused arrived yesterday at Tocumen International Airport, extradited from Venezuela, and is the main suspect in the bombing of aircraft HP-1202, Flight 901, in the province of Colon, which left 21 dead on July 19, 1994. Once in Panama, under heavy security, Jalil was handed over to the National Police.
The accused is expected to be taken to give a statement at the Superior Prosecutor’s Office for Homicide Investigations, which is responsible for the investigation.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office filed charges for crimes against life and personal integrity, specifically intentional homicide and crimes against means of transportation and communication.
Jalil’s extradition was achieved after presenting investigative evidence gathered since the events occurred in 1994, according to the prosecution.
Jalil, of Lebanese origin and with acquired Venezuelan and Colombian nationality, was captured on November 6, 2025, on Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta state.
His arrest was made possible by an international red alert, following the reactivation of the case.
The attack on Alas Chiricanas Flight 901 left three crew members and 18 passengers dead, becoming an event that marked the history of the isthmian nation.
Among the victims were identified 12 Israeli citizens, three Americans, and four Panamanians, including the crew, as well as the perpetrator of the attack.
