Despite the assumption that it is a “tasteless joke,” the National Public Education Administration (ANEP) has mandated that police reports and reports to the Cybercrime Unit be filed if the threat is made through digital media.

The threats of shootings at educational centers have been written on walls and also disseminated on social media, generally on TikTok.

The president of ANEP, Pablo Caggiani, said that the threats “cannot be minimized.” The Ministry of the Interior is treating all reports as if they were real.

Caggiani stated that, even though the threats have not materialized and originate from a digital challenge that began in Argentina, they are following the issue with concern, since attacks with firearms in educational centers are being reported in other countries around the world.

The police operation allowed them to identify some of the perpetrators, who stated that their intention was to cause the suspension of classes.

According to La Diaria, the identified teenagers were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and in some cases have already been sentenced.
