This shows the Agency’s interest and active support for its member states, Ho Quoc said upon receiving IAEA Deputy Director General Mikhail Chudakov, who was on a working visit to Vietnam.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the constant policy of the Communist Party, the State, and the Government of Vietnam is to develop atomic energy for peaceful purposes, ensuring safety, preventing nuclear proliferation, and fully complying with international treaties.
Vietnam greatly values the IAEA’s role and efforts in promoting the peaceful use of atomic energy, as well as in supporting countries in building nuclear infrastructure, Ho Quoc stated, as quoted by the government’s online newspaper.
He also noted that since joining the Agency, Vietnam “has always considered it a strategic and reliable partner, and cooperation activities have been implemented with increasing effectiveness and practicality.”
The Deputy Prime Minister specifically acknowledged the IAEA’s support through technical cooperation projects, including the organization of a nuclear infrastructure assessment mission in Vietnam.
Chudakov, for his part, reaffirmed the commitment to continue collaboration and support for Vietnam in improving its infrastructure, with the aim of implementing its nuclear energy program safely, efficiently, and in accordance with international standards.
