Ecuador hosts CONMEBOL congress with FIFA presence

Quito, Apr 23 (Prensa Latina) The Ecuadorian capital will host the Ordinary Congress of the South American Soccer Confederation (CONMEBOL), an event that will include the participation of the president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino.

The meeting will bring together the top leaders of regional soccer associations to analyze strategic issues for the development of the sport, including the head of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Dominguez, and representatives of the organization’s 10 member associations.

The official agenda includes discussions on topics such as governance, financial reports, tournament organization, and strategic planning for the 2026 World Cup. S. Simultaneously, cooperation initiatives between Ecuador, FIFA, and CONMEBOL are expected to be discussed, including Ecuador’s interest in bidding to host future editions of the Copa America, a tournament it previously organized in 1959, 1975, and 1993.

Meanwhile, various local media outlets have reported on a possible protocol meeting between Infantino, Dominguez, and Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa at the Carondelet Palace, although this meeting has not been officially confirmed by the authorities.
