Progress MS-34 spacecraft will deliver research equipment to the ISS

Moscow, April 22 (Prensa Latina) The Russian space agency, Roscosmos, announced that it plans to launch the Progress MS-34 cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) on April 26 with more than 2,500 kilograms of cargo.

The Progress MS-34 will carry special equipment for a series of scientific experiments aboard the orbital laboratory, according to an official Roscosmos statement.

“The Progress MS-34 will deliver more than 2,500 kilograms of cargo to the ISS. Equipment and consumable materials for conducting experiments will be sent into orbit,” the Roscosmos statement said.

Among the equipment is a virtual reality headset designed to study how weightlessness affects the vision, vestibular system, and spatial orientation of cosmonauts. Also included are materials to investigate the impact of stress on the immune and nervous systems, as well as to analyze bone loss during spaceflight.

In addition, the spacecraft will carry equipment to verify how microorganisms affect materials inside the ISS, and to investigate and refine water regeneration methods.

The spacecraft will also transport a spacesuit designed for use outside the station. The remaining cargo includes fuel, crew food, drinking water, medical and hygiene products, and oxygen for the ISS’s interior atmosphere.
