The Egyptian Foreign Ministry detailed that Abdellatty spoke by telephone with his counterparts from Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Iran, Abbas Araqchi.
According to the statement, the calls addressed the latest developments in the region and the progress of talks between Washington and Tehran.
During both calls, Abdellatty urged all parties to maintain their commitment to negotiations and called for intensified consultations to uphold the existing ceasefire agreement, consolidate the truce, and end the war.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also warned that dialogue is the fundamental guarantee to prevent the spread of the conflict in the Middle East.
The Minister also detailed Cairo’s broader vision for regional security.
Lasting stability must be based on respect for national sovereignty, recognition of the security concerns of the Persian Gulf states, and the protection of freedom of navigation in international waters, he noted, alluding to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The prospects for a diplomatic solution to the conflict are uncertain following US President Donald Trump’s abrupt cancellation on Saturday of a high-level mission scheduled to travel to Islamabad to continue negotiations.
Trump later told reporters that he canceled the mission because he was not satisfied with Tehran’s initial proposal.
