At an event held at the headquarters of Antex Angola in Luanda, led by Ambassador Oscar Leob, participants joined the “My Signature for the Homeland” movement, which since April 19 has been uniting people across the island in defense of its sovereignty, independence, and self-determination.
The gathering, during which poems and songs dedicated to Cuba and its Revolution were heard, served to reiterate the rejection of the United States’ coercive measures against the Cuban people, such as the economic blockade and the oil embargo, as well as the threats of military aggression.
Angel Solis Diaz, Vice President for Political Affairs at Antex in Angola, told Prensa Latina that signing this commitment on this land has a very special meaning, given the example of heroism and solidarity left by the Cubans who fought here to defend Angolan independence.
He remembered the teachings of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in the year marking the 100th anniversary of his birth, and pointed out that in circumstances where war is waged in many ways, including through social media campaigns, Cubans must arm themselves with the truth.
Mercedes Chang, an employee of Antex Angola, emphasized that it is their duty as children of the Caribbean nation not only to be prepared to defend it against a possible military aggression, but also to tell the world the reality of a country that offers only solidarity and friendship, as it has done in Angola.
On April 25, the 41 workers present at the Meditex company also joined in denouncing the brutal economic war to which Cuba has been subjected and reaffirmed their call for international solidarity.
