According to the latest report released by the Ministry of the Interior, the drop was 46,9% compared to the 14,758 registered during the same period last year, while it reached 48,0% in relation to the 16,090 immigrants who arrived in the country during the first four months of 2024.
Throughout 2023, arrivals reached 157,651, significantly higher than the number recorded in the following two years. In 2024, a reduction to 66,617 people was observed, while in 2025, 66,316 were reported, demonstrating a marked downward trend, the analysis indicates.
The monthly breakdown of reported arrivals in 2026 shows 1,457 in January, a number that increased to 2,510 in February, then decreased to 2,150 in March, before rising again to 2,262 between April 1 and 27, with the highest number recorded on April 22, when 346 people disembarked.
The national composition of irregular migrants arriving in Italy by sea in 2026 shows that those from Bangladesh predominate, at 27,0%, while Somalis, Pakistanis, Sudanese, and Egyptians represent 12,0, 11,0, 8,0, and 7,0% of the total, respectively, the source adds.
