Havana, Aprl 28 (Prensa Latina) The short film Criatura Feliz (Happy Creature), by director Marah Gongora, was presented in this capital as a tribute to an essential figure in Cuban literature: Dulce Maria Loynaz, on the 29th anniversary of her death.

This production, inspired by her poem “Island Creature,” stars actresses Yura Lopez and Miriam Socarras, who shared their experiences and impressions at the Dulce Maria Loynaz Cultural Center, in the heart of Havana’s Vedado district.

In their opinion, the poem allowed them to clearly visualize their path, and on that journey, they were accompanied by the inspiration of the National Literature Prize winner, considered the greatest Cuban writer of the 20th century.

They also detailled on its making, their first film, although they have developed skills in the audiovisual field thanks to previous projects.

It’s a wonderful idea that tells the story of a creature given wings to fly, said Yura Lopez, who plays Reina.

According to the synopsis, Reina is far removed from the stage and must find work in other professions. After being rejected at several auditions, she loses faith and self-esteem.

Then Ana shows up and restores her hope through poetry, as a sure path to finding happiness.
