In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, Etienne Labande, WFP representative in Cuba, emphasized that these initiatives offer “people the opportunity to express themselves on a topic that often doesn’t receive much attention.”
The Creative Photography Competition features three categories: Portraits of Nutrition, Life on Earth, and Stories of Resilience.
Residents of Cuba aged 18 and over may participate, submitting a maximum of three images per category, until June 29 of this year. The selected works will be exhibited in September.
In the Visual Arts competition for adults, dedicated to the theme “Nourishing Knowledge: Nutrition, Tradition, and Community,” each artist may submit two small-format works until June 30 at the Visual Arts Development Center.
Three cash prizes will be awarded in the competition, the winning pieces will be included in the WFP Cuba collection, and they will be exhibited in the visual arts center’s galleries.
Meanwhile, the WFP in Action National Children’s Visual Arts Competition invites children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 18 to submit up to three works in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, crafts, model making, installation, and digital art.
The competition is also supported by the Cuban United Nations Association, the University of the Arts, the National Council of Visual Arts, the San Alejandro Academy, and the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba.
