“On May 14 and 15, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will participate in the meeting of the BRICS foreign ministers. The session will be held in New Delhi,” Zakharova said during a press conference.
The spokeswoman added that the Russian Foreign Minister will also hold talks with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
India assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1, 2026, succeeding Brazil, which hosted the bloc’s 17th Summit in 2025.
The BRICS group, initially composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, expanded with the addition of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and Iran in 2024, and Indonesia in January 2025.
Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam are also member states of this economic alliance.
