More than 61,800 voters are registered for today’s election, in which representatives for the 17 constituencies of the House of Representatives will be elected by simple majority.
The main political organizations are participating in the contest, including the ruling ABLP party, the United Progressive Party (UPP), and the Barbuda People’s Movement.
The current Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, leader of the ABLP, which holds nine of the 17 constituencies, is seeking to retain his majority by running for the St. Johns City West constituency.
On the other hand, the UPP, led by Jamale Pringle, which holds six seats, enters these elections weakened due to an internal crisis that began in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Barbuda People’s Movement, with Trevor Walker at the helm and running for office in Barbuda, aims to maintain its representation in that single constituency.
The elections will take place in each of the constituencies that make up Parliament, while the campaigns have already concluded and the organization is now focused on the voting process that will define the country’s political future.
