In a post on Twitter, Rodriguez reciprocated the support expressed by Colombian senators and legislators in an open message addressed to U.S. congress people, denouncing the intensification of the blockade against Cuba, the energy embargo, and threats of aggression.
“This is yet another expressioon of solidarity and friendship with our country during these difficult times,” the foreign minister wrote on the social media platform.
In the letter, the Cuban parliamentarians respectfully call on the U.S. Congress to boost initiatives aimed at peace in the region and to uphold the principle of non-intervention in the Republic of Cuba.
Together, they are requesting proposals that favor the cessation of energy and economic blockades and any form of interference that affects the sovereignty of that country, Senator Gloria Florez stated on the platform.
They also expressed their “deep concern” about the escalation in these areas by the U.S. administration. At the same time, they emphasized the imperative to safeguard regional security and respect for international law.
Furthermore, the Colombian senators and legislators drew attention to the “maximum pressure policy” of the current administration, which is exacerbating the situation in the Cuban archipelago.
Furthermore, Flirez also commented on X, “Cuba IS NOT ALONE. It has the solidarity of the peoples of the world to defend its sovereignty and its right to exist.”
