Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that this seriously violates the Cuban people’s right to subsistence and development, and gravely undermines the fundamental principles of international relations.
Lin added, “China firmly supports Cuba in defending its national sovereignty and security, resolutely opposes interference in its internal affairs, and urges the United States to end the blockade, sanctions, and all forms of coercion and pressure against Cuba.”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry denounced earlier this week the escalation of this rhetoric from Washington against the island.
China previously defended its cooperation with Havana, which it described as transparent and legitimate, after rejecting accusations from Washington regarding these bilateral ties.
Beijing has repeatedly stated that it will continue its “support and assistance” in the face of repeated threats from the United States, and condemned Washington’s pressure tactics, which “compromise regional peace and stability.”
