Kim Song, DPRK’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, defended his country’s status as a nuclear power and rejected any binding obligation under the treaty.
KCNA informed that Kim accused the United States and Western powers of diverting the forum’s original mission and transforming it into a platform for malicious criticism of sovereign states.
The diplomat asserted that the DPRK obtained nuclear weapons through legal means and under its right to self-defense.
Kim also maintained that the DPRK withdrew from the NPT transparently under Article 10 and, therefore, is not bound by its provisions.
