The city is going through a dangerous historical phase, Al-Habbash, who is also the presidential advisor for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations, stated during an international conference in Pakistan, the official news agency reported.
He warned that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aims to impose a new reality and erase the Palestinian Islamic identity of the so-called holy city.
In light of the situation, Al-Habash called on the world to provide support and assistance to the Palestinian people, “who are confronting the occupation policies with firmness and resilience.”
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry recently condemned the establishment of an Israeli school in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in the occupied East Jerusalem, considering it is part of the attempts to change the city’s demographics.
