Iran offers assistance to ships in the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, May 7 (Prensa Latina) The Iranian Ports and Maritime Affairs Organization announced that the country's ports are prepared to provide services and logistical support to ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian territorial waters.

According to the official IRNA news agency, the organization issued a statement addressed to captains of merchant vessels operating in the region, guaranteeing access to supplies, fuel, medical services, and maintenance materials.

The document specifies that assistance will be available especially for ships located in Iranian ports and waters, and that the message will be broadcast several times a day via maritime communication networks and VHF systems.

The announcement comes amid tensions related to the so-called “Operation Freedom,” launched by US President Donald Trump to escort vessels from countries considered neutral in the Strait of Hormuz.

Washington recently announced the temporary suspension of that initiative, citing progress toward a possible agreement with Tehran, although Iranian media dismissed the existence of an imminent understanding and indicated that the US proposal contains unacceptable conditions.

The situation unfolds against a backdrop of the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which began in late February, and the fragile temporary ceasefire reached in April with Pakistan’s mediation.
