The Cuban duo led the final with a time of 41.53 seconds, beating China’s Changwen Shuai and Wenjun Lin (41.67) and Uzbekistan’s Shokhsanam Sherzodova and Nilufar Zokirova (42.04), who finished second and third, respectively.
For Latin America, Brazil’s Isaquias Guimaraes Queiroz added a silver medal, finishing second in the C-1 500 meters, narrowly defeated (1:44.43 to 1:44.73) by China’s Bowen Ji.
In the women’s K-4 500 meters, the Chinese team of Shimeng Yu, Mengdie Yin, Nan Wang, and Siyu Shen took first place, while in the men’s K-4, the local team of Bence Nadas, Bence Fodor, Levente Kurucz, and Sandor Totka won.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian duo of Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasia Rybachok dominated the double canoe 500 meters, Czech Martin Fuksa won the single canoe 1 kilometer, and the host country’s Zsoka Csikos won the K-1 1000 meters.
In addition, Russian Sergey Svinarev led the C-1 200 meters, Chinese Mengya Sun the C-1 500 meters, Australian Natalia Drobot the K-1 500 meters, and Portuguese Fernando Pimenta the K-1 1000 meters.
Finally, Slovenian Matevz Manfreda led the K-1 at 200 meters, and Russians Alexey Korovashkov, Aleksandr Bots, Dmitrii Sharov, and Matvei Arsenov led the C-4 at 500 meters.
