In statements released by the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim, the spokesman expressed that “the reviews are ongoing and we will announce the outcome as soon as we obtain it.”
Baghaei added that the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any possible aggression against the country.
He also accused the United States of violating the ceasefire by launching attacks against Qeshm Island and the city of Bandar Abbas, located near the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran.
Tensions between the two nations intensified after the conflict that began on February 28 between the United States and Israel against Iran, which resulted in Iranian attacks against Israeli targets and what Tehran described as “US interests” in the region.
Subsequently, Washington and Tehran announced a temporary ceasefire on April 8, brokered by Pakistan.
In that context, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Hussain Andarabi expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement between Iran and the United States soon.
Meanwhile, the Axios website quoted US officials as saying that both sides were close to signing a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the state of confrontation between the two countries.
