Cuban Daniel Martin Subiaut receives in Mexico Honoris Causa degree

Mexico City, May 9 (Prensa Latina) The International Conference of the University Community awarded Cuban singer-songwriter Daniel Martin Subiaut, president of the Latin Music Institute (ILM), with an Honoris Causa Doctorate Degree.

Reports stated that Subiaut, who is also the creator, co-writer, and director of the animated series Titoverse, also received the Patriotic Award for Defender of National Sovereignty for his contributions to culture, leading the ILM, as well as the Fathers of the Nation Medal.

The Conference’s member institutions praised “his strong spirit of solidarity and his dedication to building a better nation,” noting that “his work has extolled” Mexico, and commended his “commitment and dedication to ensuring that all citizens are happy and preserve their history and values.”

Subiaut told Prensa Latina, “On May 8, I celebrated 33 years of continuous artistic life. Three-quarters of my 44 years in the arts have instilled in me a commitment to be useful, to pave the way for the well-being of children in Cuba and Latin America.”

He considered the said recognitions “a positive boost for several upcoming binational (Cuba-Mexico) and multinational initiatives, especially for children.”

Subiaut stated, “I dedicate this award to the sovereignty and courage of Cuba during its most challenging time; much of who I am I owe to what I learned there.”
