“We reaffirm our commitment to expanding bilateral ties in all areas of common interest based on the principles of equality and mutual respect,” the Foreign Ministry stated on social media.
Cuba and Norway established bilateral relations at the Legation level on May 12, 1909, and these were elevated to Embassy status in November 1961. Since 1993, Norway has voted in favor of the Cuban resolution against the blockade imposed on the island by the United States for more than six decades.
Norway maintains a strong diplomatic presence in Cuba through its embassy in Havana, which plays a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cultural, scientific, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Norway also has honorary consulates that facilitate additional ties with the local community.
