On social media, he described it as “blockade upon blockade” and “collective punishment against an entire people based on a web of lies and media manipulation.”
“It is cynical, deeply cynical, to blame the very victims of such a crime: denying them food, medicine, and basic resources while accusing them of their own misfortune,” he stated.
He also referred to the fierce intensification of the economic blockade with the imposition of the oil embargo and the executive order of May 1, noting that they seek nothing more than to starve and sicken a nation that has not been able to be subdued by the most powerful empire in history.
“The goal is clear: to destroy the will of a people through physical suffering and despair. That the world’s richest and most heavily armed power has to resort to such brutality against civilians to try to impose its will is a tremendous disgrace to the failed policies of successive US administrations,” he stated.
“It’s not a strategy, it’s an embarrassment: an admission that, with all their resources, they have been unable to defeat a small country that is only asking for the right to live without punishment,” he concluded.
