The post referred to Fidel’s words upon arrival: “Despite the distance and cultural differences, we are united by the history of a colonial past…the same determination to resist the sacrifice of our identity to an unjust globalization.”

It also remembered that he was received by His Majesty Sultan Salehuddim Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj and that he conveyed the wishes of the Cuban people for his well-being, peace, and prosperity, as well as for the expansion of reciprocal ties of friendship and cooperation.

During this visit to Kuala Lumpur, a Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Exchange Agreement was also signed, and the First Intergovernmental Commission was established.
