The seventh shipment this year, that will be addressed to the health network of Santiago de Cuba province, includes 57 pallets of syringes (900,000) and hypodermic needles (2.8 million) valued at 200,000 euros.

Another container is scheduled to be shipped at the end of May with the remainder of the donation made by Cartronic Memory to Sodepaz-Medicuba Spain.

The freight was paid for by Medicuba Europe. Similar initiatives are underway in the Basque Country and Valencia, among other regions of Spain.

Meanwhile, the flotilla “Heading to Cuba” set sail from Barcelona for the Caribbean island to transport photovoltaic equipment for the Juan Manuel Marquez Pediatric Hospital in Habana.

It is also carrying medicine and food. This initiative is led by the NGO Open Arms and involves more than 20 social and political organizations, such as Ecologistas en Acción, Asociación Amal Esperanza, Podemos, Izquierda Unida, Compromís, Comuns, and Bildu, among others.

Before crossing the Atlantic to Havana, the Open Arms ship Astral will stop in Valencia on May 13, Malaga on May 19, Cádiz on May 22, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on May 28.
