The session features the presence of acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez, who traveled to the Netherlands on Sunday to participate in the case brought unilaterally by the neighboring nation, which defends the 1899 Paris Arbitral Award, which Caracas considers “null.”
Rodriguez wrote on a social media post her arrival in the Dutch capital “to defend the majesty and force of the 1966 Geneva Agreement.”
The head of State affirmed that she does not doubt that “the sole owner of Guyana’s Essequibo region is Venezuela, and we will always uphold its legitimate and historical rights over this territory.”
The president was received at Amsterdam-Schiphol International Airport by Foreign Minister Yvan Gil and other authorities, and told reporters that they are upholding international law.
Rodriguez affirmed that, as a Venezuelan and acting president, “being here as the voice of all Venezuela and our people is an honor” to defend the historical rights of Guyana’s Essequibo region.
