In a letter sent to Rolando Gonzalez, head of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), headquartered in Panama since 2008, the group requested the floor to explain the consequences of the hostile policy, now aggravated by an energy embargo.
The text specifies that the objective of this appearance would be “to explain, firsthand and from the heart of those of us who have loved ones there, the reality that Cuba is experiencing today due to the impact of these measures, as well as to appeal to the conscience and the history of brotherhood that unites our peoples.”
In the letter, written on behalf of Cubans committed to defending the sovereignty, dignity, and rights of the Cuban people, the message condemns the total blockade on oil sales to Cuba, as well as the threats of imposing trade tariffs on countries that do not join this unjust and unilateral policy of economic strangulation.
“We consider these measures a flagrant violation of International Law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles of peaceful coexistence among nations, in addition to representing an act of hostility that directly affects the human rights of the Cuban people,” the text, delivered this week, emphasizes.
In this regard, they requested the active support of the regional legislature and all its deputies to promote the immediate end to the United States’ economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba, as well as the rejection of the White House Executive Order.
They also urged the issuance of a declaration or resolution of solidarity with the Cuban people, reiterating the Latin American Parliament’s rejection of all forms of interference and coercion in the internal affairs of states.
