DPRK and Vietnam strengthen foreign policy cooperation

Pyongyang, May 14 (Prensa Latina) The foreign ministers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Vietnam reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening traditional friendship and expanding bilateral cooperation in foreign policy and international affairs, official sources highlighted.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on a meeting between DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui and Le Hoai Trung, special envoy of the Vietnamese president, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

During the meeting Choe reaffirmed the government’s willingness to strengthen traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, in tune with the agreements reached at the historic summit in October 2025 between the leaders of both countries.

He conveyed the constant interest of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people in consolidating bilateral ties and expressed support for the implementation process of the decisions of the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

Both sides agreed to expand exchanges in various fields, strengthen strategic communication, and coordinate cooperation between their foreign policy agencies.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

The talks included officials from the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Vice Minister Park Sang-gil, and, on the Vietnamese side, Ambassador Le Ba Bing and a special delegation.
