Spaniards demonstrate for Cuba and reject intervention

Madrid, May 17 (Prensa Latina) Hundreds of Spaniards demonstrated their rejection of a US military intervention against Cuba, while reiterating their condemnation of the White House's economic strangulation of the island.

Gathered in front of the Cuban Embassy in Madrid, solidarity activists spoke out against the Washington blockade, intensified by preventing other countries from exporting fuel to the Caribbean nation, in addition to numerous other restrictions.

In this attempt to literally encircle Cuba, the group also deplored the inclusion of the Caribbean nation on the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism, according to the perspective of the Donald Trump administration.

Araceli Escudero, leader of the State Coordinating Committee for Solidarity with Cuba in Madrid, told Prensa Latina that the initiative seeks to denounce the US harassment of the island, which is going through a critical period.

We stand with Cuba and will do everything possible to support this heroic nation and prevent an invasion, he added.

He noted that solidarity and friendship groups with Cuba in Spain also “request the support of governments, because Russia has been the only one to send an oil tanker, which has a limited lifespan.”

Diplomats from the Cuban Embassy in Madrid later left the embassy to thank the demonstrators for their support of the island and their condemnation of the strangling actions by the United States.
