The institution cited the case of Khalil Muhammad Riyahi, 48, who has lost approximately 30 kilograms and suffers from heart disease, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
His lawyer affirmed that Riyahi was also “brutally beaten during the first days of his detention, resulting in the fracture of all the teeth in his lower jaw.”
He noted that Riyahi was then taken to the hospital for examination, but the doctor refused to document the assault and considered that the dental injury had occurred before his arrest.
The Commission also informed on the case of Taysir Qassem, 17, who has been suffering from breathing difficulties for a month due to beatings in prison.
It warned that these testimonies reflect the ongoing health and humanitarian problems faced by prisoners in Israeli penitentiary centers.
