The incident occurred on May 19, and despite warnings about the presence of armed men, they reached the center of the village and set fire to a hotel, several kiosks, and motorcycles, Radio Okapi reported.
Civil society also reported the disappearance of several people and the theft of livestock; as well as the continuation of attacks the previous day in the village of Manyama, where they allegedly killed two more civilians, burned several houses, and took hostages.
This latest deadly incident perpetrated by the ADF in the Mambasa territory exacerbates the insecurity in the area, which has been experiencing constant attacks by the armed group affiliated with the Islamic State since February.
It also occurs amidst an Ebola epidemic affecting the Ituri province, making the mass displacements generated by this violence extremely dangerous for containing the outbreak.
