Israeli attacks kill six paramedics in southern Lebanon

Beirut, May 23 (Prensa Latina) At least 11 people, including six paramedics, were killed and 13 others wounded today following 61 attacks launched by Israel against southern Lebanon, in a further violation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to a tally based on data from the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), the attacks included 41 airstrikes, 17 artillery strikes, one explosion, and one military search operation.

Most of the incursions were concentrated in the Tyre district, where towns such as Burj Rahal, Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, Abbasiya, Mansouri, Qalila, Majdal Zoun, Hanawiya, and Jouya were attacked.

One of the airstrikes against the area between Burj Rahal, Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, and Abbasiya left six dead, including two paramedics, and six wounded, among them three members of emergency teams who were evacuating victims after an initial bombing of a motorcycle.

In the town of Hanawiya, four more paramedics were killed and two wounded in attacks targeting a medical center and an Islamic Health Authority post.

Furthermore, three people were wounded in a bombing in the Hafour area, located between the towns of Siddiqin and Qana.

International humanitarian law provides special protection for medical personnel and medical facilities during armed conflicts, in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocol I of 1977.
