Cuban officials denounce lies on Cuba to justify intervention

Mexico City, May 24 (Prensa Latina) The second-in-command of the Cuban Mission in Mexico, Ambassador Johana Tablada, stated that the United States' accusation against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro, is a lie intended to justify intervention.

“Trying to replicate a model like the kidnapping of (Venezuelan) President Nicolas Maduro, the U.S. Department of Justice has just formalized an absolutely infamous accusation” against Raul Castro, the diplomat asserted.

During the inauguration of the 30th National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held in the central state of Aguascalientes, Tablada denounced that “one of the many lies being fabricated to justify a military intervention” in Cuba.

The Cuban government repudiated the U.S. Department of Justice’s accusation on Raul Castro.

In a statement, she asserted that the U.S. administration “lacks the legitimacy and jurisdiction to carry out this action” and called the indictment “a despicable and infamous act of political provocation,” based on the manipulation of an incident from February 1996.

She emphasized that Raul Castro’s work and legacy cannot be erased by any accusation from any Department of Justice and assured that Cuba will not allow any U.S. aircraft to fly through Cuban airspace.

The opening remarks were delivered by the First Vice President of the Cuban Friendship Institute, Noemi Rabaza, who conveyed “the most heartfelt and sincere gratitude for the courageous support” shown to the island by the Mexican people and government.
