Although the Congolese Football Federation (Fecofa) consulted with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) regarding the health measures implemented for the national team, and so far there should be no problems, the fans are not so fortunate.
Fecofa stated that a large part of the Congolese delegation, including the players, does not reside in the DRC; meanwhile, a small group of technical staff traveled to Belgium and will remain in Europe for more than 21 days, so they will be under close surveillance to avoid complications related to their entry into the United States.
However, fans will not be able to attend the matches scheduled for the United States, due to the entry ban imposed by Washington on all travelers from the DRC.
FIFA has guaranteed refunds for those who have already purchased tickets and are unable to enter the United States.
The Leopards, as the Congolese players are known, are in Group K of the tournament, along with Portugal, Colombia, and Uzbekistan, but will play preparation matches against Denmark and Chile before the start of the competition.
The match against Denmark will take place on June 3 in Liege, Belgium, and the game against Chile will be on June 9 in Marbella, Spain.
