Costa Rican organization rejects campaign against Raul Castro

San Jose, May 25 (Prensa Latina) The Costa Rican Movement of Solidarity and Love for Cuba (MSC) condemned the campaign launched by the United States against the historic leader of the Caribbean nation, Raul Castro, as a “violation of international law and the right to life.”

A statement from the organization rejects the crusade that questions the Cuban leader for Havana’s decisions more than 60 years ago “in legitimate defense of its territory and airspace, in the face of the threat of aggression from Washington.”

“The Costa Rican Movement of Solidarity and Love for Cuba,” the statement emphasizes, “joins in the public condemnation of the brutal blockade and the military threats against the Island and its people by (the government of) Donald Trump.”

The statement from the Central American organization also calls for “respect for the self-determination and international law of peoples” and urges “friends of Cuba to join in defense of the truth and the lives of our Cuban brothers and sisters and their Revolution.”

Many international institutions in the region, and particularly those in Costa Rica, are currently issuing statements of support for the Caribbean nation in the face of US pressure tactics that have been attempting to subdue its people for six decades.
