Speaking at a tribute at the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City, Rabaza referred to the first Fidel Colloquy: Legacy and Future, to be held in Havana from August 10 to 13, the centennial of his birth.
“It’s not just about discussing Fidel’s legacy, but about leveraging that legacy to build the future he always dreamed of and always defended: a future of ideas, a future where social justice prevails and where human beings are at the center of every process,” she stated.
She invited those present to participate in the meeting and emphasized that showing support during such a difficult time for Cuba show to the world the existence of courageous men and women who believe in a better world and defend justice.
Rabaza denounced the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island for more than six decades.
“We began the year with an intensified blockade, with intensified hostility, a policy of economic strangulation that was later aggravated by the energy embargo, but we are also currently threatened like never before by a possible military intervention in our country,” he stressed.
She said that the resistance and resilience of the Cuban people are accompanied by a great movement of solidarity around the world and highlighted Mexico as an example of this.
