Marta Bonet, president of the organization, along with First Vice President Magda Resik and Director of International Relations Jorge Nunez, received Cultural, Educational, and Scientific Counselor Han Lixin and Cultural and Tourism Attache Liu Mengyang.
At UNEAC headquarters, they discussed the implementation of the agreement signed in 2024 with the Chinese Writers Association, the Cuban organization explained on social media.
Bonet expressed her gratitude for the Chinese government’s sustained support of Cuba in the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, as well as in the defense of national sovereignty and respect for the self-determination of the Cuban people.
She also remembered the most recent acts of solidarity and humanitarian assistance, including the shipment of food and medicine, and support for solar power generation projects, the publication added.
Resik invited Chinese intellectuals and artists’ associations to support the recent statements by UNEAC (National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba), which denounce the threats from the United States and the attempt to prosecute Army General Raul Castro.
The exchange included a visit t Villa Manuela Gallery, where the diplomatic representatives toured the exhibition “Hilar fino” (Threading Fine) and spoke with curator Guillermo Rodriguez and the director of the cultural institution, Virginia Alberdi.
