Death toll from Israeli offensive in Lebanon reaches 3,269

Beirut, May 28 (Prensa Latina) The death toll from the Israeli offensive against Lebanon rose to 3,269, while the number of wounded has reached 9,840 since the start of the military escalation on March 2, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported.

The health ministry stated in a press release that 56 deaths and 103 injuries were recorded in the last 24 hours as a result of Israeli attacks on various parts of the country.

The previous tally stood at 3,213 dead and 9,737 wounded.

The Israeli aggression continues to intensify, especially in towns in southern Lebanon, in violation of the fragile ceasefire agreement in effect since April 17 and extended until the beginning of July.

Local media reported renewed attempts by Israeli forces to advance into southern Lebanon, particularly in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, north of the Litani River.

The clashes coincide with attacks claimed by Hezbollah for the second consecutive day against Israeli military positions and movements in the border area.

Israel has occupied areas of southern Lebanon for decades and expanded its military presence during recent offensives, penetrating approximately 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory, according to local sources.
