In a message posted on the social media platform X, the president echoed the words of the leader of the Revolution, Raul Castro, who affirmed that “as long as a strategic reserve exists, the nation will have the means to defend itself.”
Diaz-Canel thanked the workers, managers, and collaborators of the National Institute of State Reserves (INRE) for preserving the nation’s reserves “to confront the blockade, natural disasters, epidemics, and all kinds of contingencies.”
The INRE was founded 45 years ago at the initiative of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, who conceived the institution as “an irreplaceable material pillar” in the face of the worst adversities the country has suffered, as Raul Castro recalled in a congratulatory message sent to the organization. Throughout its 45 years of existence, the institution has guaranteed economic stability in times of crisis and has strengthened the country’s defense capabilities, becoming a strategic support against external and internal challenges, including the intensification of the US embargo.
