The meeting is addressing regional measures to contain the outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo strain and officially declared on May 15 in Ituri province, in eastern Congo.
Actualite.CD informed that the coordination is expected for the deployment of nine mobile laboratories in strategic border areas and at the region’s leading entry points, such as Beni in the DRC, and along the borders with Kenya, South Sudan, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda.
EAC Secretary General Stephen Mbundi recently stated that the organization is strengthening its coordination mechanisms with partner States and international health institutions, including the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Mbundi highlighted the boost given to a training program designed to improve the clinical management of high-risk infectious diseases, including Ebola.
