In their message, the Nicaraguan leaders highlighted Raul Castro’s spiritual strength and revolutionary commitment, while also remembering the shared struggles between the peoples and governments of Nicaragua and Cuba in defense of peace, social justice, and the well-being of their citizens.
“As you reach 95 with all the strength of spirit to continue the battles for peace and the right to well-being and life of the Cuban people, we write to you thinking of all that we have lived together, all that we have fought together, and all that we still have to do,” the leaders expressed.
They also emphasized the importance of continuing to work with “the same courage, the same dedication, and the same responsibility” to achieve greater levels of well-being for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
In the letter, they conveyed to Raul Castro the affection of the Nicaraguan people and of those who maintain deep ties of friendship and solidarity with Cuba, highlighting the enduring legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
“With all our affection, that of our people, that of so many who love Cuba and see at every moment the constant inspiration of Fidel Castro’s soul, which continues to illuminate the essential and undeniable paths, we say to you, Raul, comrade, general, revolutionary leader, our affection, our admiration, and our strength, always onward,” the message concluded.
