Moscow: Difficult for Armenia to walk between the EU and the EAEU

St. Petersburg, Russia, June 4 (Prensa Latina) Armenia must define its course, as it cannot walk the fine line between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU), Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated.

“We have heard some ambiguous statements about the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) leaving Armenia. But in this situation, no new formulation can be invented, and the EAEU has not left Armenia,” the spokeswoman noted on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The approach of the Armenian leadership, in which Yerevan intends to straddle both the EU and the EAEU, satisfies no one, she emphasized.

Zakharova later stated that Moscow has no intention of financing Yerevan’s entry into the EU, which supports the terrorists in Kyiv.

“That EU bloc maintains an openly hostile policy toward our country and other countries around the world, and supports the terrorists in Kyiv. It not only supports them, but also finances them,” he added.

The SPIEF will be held from June 3 to 6 in St. Petersburg. The forum’s main theme is “Pragmatic Dialogue: The Path to a Stable Future.”

The event’s program is dedicated to shaping a new model of global development in the context of the transformation of the world economy.
