Qatar calls for dialogue to avoid escalation in the Middle East

Doha, June 4 (Prensa Latina) The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, stressed on the need to prioritize dialogue and political solutions to contain the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

According to the Qatari Diwan Amiri, Al-Thani expressed this position during a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.

The two leaders analyzed the political and security situation in the region, as well as international efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing an expansion of the conflict.

During the exchange, the Qatari Emir stressed the importance of promoting diplomatic channels and maintaining dialogue among all parties involved, with the goal of strengthening regional security and stability.

The talks also addressed the need to guarantee the safety of maritime navigation and strategic shipping lanes, as well as preserving the functioning of supply and energy chains, considered essential for the global economy.

The call came amid escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf, following recent clashes related to the war between the United States and Israel against Iran.

In the last few hours, Bahrain and Kuwait reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have attacked US military facilities in both countries in response to actions that, according to Tehran, originated from those territories. jdt/arm/mem/fm
