The mission announced the opening of an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the attack, while also warning of a significant increase in mortar fire in the area of ​​operations.

In its statement, the international force condemned the attack and reiterated that deliberate attacks against peacekeepers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and may be considered war crimes.

It also urged all parties involved in the conflict to respect their international obligations and guarantee the safety of UN personnel and facilities, as well as to refrain from any action that could endanger peacekeepers.
