The former president stated that the United Nations must return to its founding spirit through reform, uphold the Charter, focus on results, and boost the pillars of peace, development, and human rights.
She specified that the multilateral organization must modernize to better address new risks.
Bachelet expressed her firm support for the One China policy and assessed China’s backing of multilateralism and the UN.
The UN candidate expressed her willingness to work with China and the international community to strengthen the role and position of the multilateral organization.
Wang noted that Bachelet’s reflections show her dedication and sense of responsibility for United Nations affairs and the progress of humanity, and recalled that she traveled to New York last month to chair a high-level Security Council meeting.
