Palestine reiterates call to the world amid profound health crisis

Ramallah, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Health Ministry warned of the deep crisis of medicines, supplies, and laboratory tests plaguing the sector due to the Israeli aggression and blockade. The health institution stated that the medical centers lack a third of the medicines included on the essential drug list and noted that hundreds of items have stocks below the emergency demand threshold.

Out of the 520 essential medicines, some 180 are at zero stock levels, and regarding cancer medications, 50 out of 97 are unavailable, the statement revealed, after noting that the situation is much worse in Gaza Strip.

The text highlighted that there is also a severe shortage of surgical sutures, materials for cardiac catheterization, and specialized medical consumables.

In light of the situation, the entity warned that more than 4,000 people with cancer and thousands of kidney dialysis patients are at risk.

The Ministry underscored that the Government is making tireless efforts around the clock to prevent the collapse of healthcare services, despite the exceptional financial circumstances it is facing.
