Huawei ICT competition concludes in China with record participation

Shenzhen, China, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) University students from eight countries received the Grand Prize at the tenth edition of the Huawei ICT Competition, which concluded with a record-breaking 220,000 participants from some 100 nations and regions.

The event attracted students and professors from more than 2,000 higher education institutions, while a total of 177 teams from 49 countries and regions advanced to the final stage after passing national and regional rounds.

The top awards in the Practice, Innovation, and Programming categories were won by 18 teams from China, Nigeria, Singapore, Algeria, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, and the Dominican Republic.

The organization also awarded special prizes to recognize contributions in areas such as inclusion, sustainability, leadership, and teaching excellence.

Seven all-female teams from Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Kenya, China, and Bahrain received the Women in Technology award. Two teams from Ghana and China received the Green Development Award, while 10 Chinese students were recognized as part of the Huawei Future Business Leader Track program.

The Most Valuable Instructor Award was given to 16 teachers from Pakistan, China, Nigeria, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Turkey.

During the ceremony, Ritchie Peng, President of Huawei’s ICT Business Strategy and Development Department, stated that the competition reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable development and the use of technology for social benefit.

Peng emphasized that the innovation categories allowed participants to develop solutions to real-world challenges using emerging technologies.
