“This Friday, June 5, 185 Russian military personnel were returned from territory controlled by the Kyiv regime. In exchange, 185 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian Armed Forces were handed over,” the statement from the military body published on its official Telegram channel reads.
The released Russian military personnel are in Belarus, where they are being assisted by the Russian Human Rights Commissioner, Yana Lantratova.
After receiving the necessary medical and psychological care, they will be transferred to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation at Ministry of Defense medical centers.
The statement also notes that “the United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian mediation efforts” regarding the exchange.
