Russia sees no progress in resolving conflict with Ukraine

St. Petersburg, Russia, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Russia sees no progress in finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine almost a year after the Anchorage summit, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.

Lavrov, who gave an interview to Izvestia newspaper on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), added that he also saw no signs of any attempt to persuade Kyiv to accept Washington’s proposals.

The foreign minister stated in the dialogue with the United States on resolving the conflict in Ukraine that a “vicious circle” is evident. And the same thing is happening here; the solution for Ukraine was debated and accepted by us according to the US version in August 2025, in Alaska.

The Russian top diplomat affirmed that Europe will not support any agreement that implies losing control over the power of President Volodymyr Zelensky, or over whoever might replace him in the future.

Lavrov expressed his confidence that achieving the objectives of the special military operation will significantly contribute to strengthening Russia’s position on the international stage.
