On his social media account, Diaz-Canel expressed his gratitude to all those who abandone their daily work to defending the socialist state of law and social justice: “Your dedication is a guarantee of our sovereignty. Congratulations!” the Cuban head of state emphasized.
Prime Minister Manuel Marrero joined in recognizing Cuban lawyers “as guarantors of our socialist state.”
Following this, the head of government praised jurists for their fidelity to a legacy of ethics and high moral standards that distinguishes their work in updating the country’s legal system.
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent special greetings to the jurists of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, extending them to all their colleagues, whom it commended for their professionalism and commitment in defending the Constitution, justice, and socialist legality.
The Ministry of Higher Education, on its Facebook page, also congratulated judges, prosecutors, lawyers, legal advisors, and to all legal professionals “who, from every institution, including higher education, train and defend justice with dedication and responsibility.”
Every June 8th, Cuba celebrates Legal Workers’ Day to honor the legal and patriotic career of Major General Ignacio Agramonte.
On this date in 1865, the Cuban independence leader, known as “El Mayor” (The Major), completed his degree at the University of Havana, earning his Licentiate in Civil and Canon Law.
