Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, also expressed gratitude to the Secretary General of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK for all the hospitality shown to him in this capital on June 8-9.
The Chinese president stressed in a letter published by KCNA that the reception showed “the deep friendship between the two sides and the two countries.”
He further underscored that the talks held with Kim led to the reach of “important common understandings” and provided a new historical chapter to bilateral relations.
Xi conveyed in his letter, on behalf of the Party, the government, and the people of China, as well as on his behalf and that of his wife, Peng Liyuan, “the warmest greetings and sincere gratitude” to Kim Jong-un, his wife, Ri Sol-ju, and the Korean people for the organization and hospitality extended.
The neighboring statesman noted that the relations between China and the DPRK have entered a new historical stage.
